A new hosted adventure is now available to play online.
Hunger of the Wolf by Kieran Coghlan
400 references
As with Outsider this adventure is currently 'beta' and needs playtesting, however it is a lot more playable than the current Outsider implementation. Like Outsider it may disappear from the 'playable' list as it is worked on from time to time.
Comments and bug reports on this adventure would be most welcome.

Hello, me and my friend Corry, (we are sharing an account) are both writting gamebooks for this website. So consequently, we would like to know how to start our topic in the forums so we may have feed back about our gamebook, wich we are sure reader will enjoy. Correy is doing a non-sequitur gamebook more suited to teenagers, and adults who never really left childhood, and enjoy reading crap (no offence Corry). I'm writting an interessting book, where you must discover who you truly are. our styles are slightly similar, so reader may even like both of them. All we want in return is feedback, questions, comments, critique, even catching our spelling, or grammatical errors would be nice. So if we could find out how to start our forum of our nrewbook thatg would be nice. They are still being written so it would be nice to get suggestions as we go, so at the end we can have "perfect" books. Also have a part on creating stats for the adventure sheet would be nice. Jake Are Post Scriptum the SEL codes don't seem to work, even when Corry pasted it directly into his adventure. He has been complaining alot about it, I must agree that when you can get to it, it would be nice if you could have buttons to make the codes fore you like how you guys made the links. Thank you.

Hi Author and Corry, glad to hear you're giving the system a go.
First of all to create a thread in this forum you need to register an account with proboards - there should be a link somewhere around for 'sign up' or 'register' on these boards somewhere.
Secondly I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulty using SEL. It still is far more tricky to use than I'd like, and the error pages are still very unfriendly. Also I think I may have been misleading in my ABML guide as the some of the example functions don't actually exist (i.e. the Get_Item() and HasItem() function and so on) as they were only intended as a guide on how to use SEL in correct context/syntax. The 'SEL reference' lists all the functions that are actually available to you if you haven't created or imported any libraries.
Just to get you started, in Reference 0 try this:
<EVENT event="&permvar $skill;$skill=&random(7,12)">You roll <INFO info="$skill;"></INFO> For Skill</EVENT>
Then in your charsheet Reference entry, try this:
Skill: <INFO info="$skill;"></INFO>
Make sure that there are no other attempts at SEL on reference 0 or charsheet as if they are causing errors the page will still crash.
Hopefully that shows you how to generate Skill, and keep it displayed in your character sheet. More importantly it shows exactly how and where to use SEL inside ABML tags.
Thanks for your feedback, and as soon as you need some help with anything let me know - for example copy and paste the code you are having trouble with into this forum.

Thanks for spotting that. I simply overlooked making the turn to text into a TT tag during data entry. It should work now :-) (although you will have to restart your adventure unfortunately)

Also, is it intentional that if you only roll 1 dice for stamina, not 2?

I have encountered a similar problem in Outsider, reference 271 - I fough 2 attack rounds, it would not let me fight the copper so I pressed attack for the wizard, at which point it said
'JUNIOR WIZARD SKILL 10 STAMINA 6
If Copper has been alerted the enemy will be tougher!Junior Wizard Skill:10 Stamina:4 Combat status: survived'
but did not give me the option to attack the copper.

Sorry for taking so long to reply....
Hunger of the Wolf 1 die for Stamina... yes, read Kierans rules (optional at the start) 1d6 + 18.
Outsider... Massively incomplete... it was my first attempt at implementation and also the most complex adventure to implement. It needs severe overhauling and I may unpublish it until I do so.
